Beloved Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.

Stateside performer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular television series including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California this Monday following cancer treatment beginning in 2022, as reported by news outlets.

"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones shared in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

A Notable TV Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.

The actor is survived by his partner Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
