Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his future following a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
