Three Shortlisted for Young Sports Star Award

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the 2025 Young Sports Star of the Year award.

These three athletes have been recognised for their remarkable achievements over the last year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a historic innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The finalists were unveiled on a popular morning radio program.

The champion will be unveiled on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The ceremony will be aired from 7 PM GMT.

Agyemang's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Football

A mere three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler's 2025 began in sensational style as - aged 17 - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

And he wasn't finished there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, shattering the previous record.

"Being nominated for the honour once more is a big honour," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and surged to prominence with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
