NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage includes live text for Sunday's games on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available through select stations covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week of the NFL season and following last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.
Notable in those games were the amount of infractions each committed. The Eagles did so at crucial times so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this Sunday.
But it proved good to see how Denver quarterback the rookie managed to overcome the shortfall before lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the game by four points.
Denver have the top defender in CB their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos won that battle.
They executed the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They did not always sending extra defenders instead they might plug two linebackers in the interior then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.
At the start of the season, it was noted on a program that Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season strongly then did a good job of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?
Recently acquired TE their tight end has stepped up significantly and new running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He now ranks fifth in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
I love that head coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows that Denver are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes while keeps you in favourable down and distances.
This has helped QB Bo Nix, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to throw all over, however they lack in the same way as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, which is different, and he's highly agile.
His strengths are his mobility, the capacity to pass while moving, and using varied release points to make the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws over the middle or past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays a lot of poise under pressure and is not bothered by extra rushers. He aims to evade a sack whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He has a high football IQ and is very decisive.
When you consistently run the ball it eats up time and forces the opponent to be in play extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defence has to cover the field vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.
Nix has bitten back with the coach during games sometimes and it seems Payton likes that fire, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can truly develop him the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for him.
Payton has won a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. I think the success Denver are having on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps shape him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.
I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, which is a solid position to hold their division. The key to do is maintain this path.
They're really good at leaning into their forte, which is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad yet to win any game.
Ever since the league began tracking takeaways decades ago, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers in five outings, which is surprising considering that the head coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule until their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the division.
This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they face since Denver {beat|def
